1990s 4 bedroom modern detached property with original insulation.

We wanted to upgrade the 25-year old gas boiler and the microbore pipework for the heating system.
Installed an Air source heat pump in August 2023.  The majority of radiators required upgrading to double-thickness / larger surface area radiators.  A larger hot water cylinder was installed.

We use the "Homely" app to control the heat pump - just set the required temperature and time of day, along with the electricity tariff, and it works out when the heat pump should run.  Once the initial installation teething problems were resolved, it has worked well ever since.  We tend to keep the house at 18 degrees between 7am and 11pm.

An initial analysis of our gas and electricity bills for the first year indicate that we saved 75% of the energy (kWh) used to power the house, and it cost us 25% less to heat our home to the same level as before.
